De-wayne No-Run-ner is his holy name

He asked if I could hike in golden mist
To tops of peaks to speak his gorgeous name
Weak steps prevent ascents to his bless'd fame
To ask his Gods when life shall fall apart
With shouts from peaks he'd ask when death shall start
Strewn teeth and gums decay inside his mouth
He slurs blunt words that ask to speak his name
For he's too weak and old to end this bout

"To free my hopeless spirit damned by flames,
Shout out my name on sacred mountain tops.
Or leave me to die, and let my soul drop
To bitter Hell, my soul will reach its end.
So. Reach the top my friend and call my name
De-wayne No-Run-ner. I can run no more.
You'll see valleys hundreds of miles long,
You'll see the shadow of death where I'm now.
Speak my name you'll understand this powwow
I'll reach God's eternal kingdom above
Then I shall be free with my once true love
Spirits from my eyes have sought liberty
But my sin leads me. Now go set me free."

Above, the Sun shone down for me to see
This old, sick man wishing to be set free
I look to skies I've seen ten-thousand times
The firmament unlocks serene blue lines
Which fade to deep blue tints in a glum hour
On sides of austere rocky mountain tops
Waterfalls roll like fountains off mountains
They gush of life from Dewayne's lonely Gods
I thought: "How am I to release a soul?"
I looked at the awe the mountain tops hold
And thought all peaks and crevices of earth
Must hold holiness like a child's birth

I trek up cutbacks washed from snow and rain
Dark clouds summersault over green valleys
Thunder claps, hail lands with distinguished pain
Crawling on hands and knees, my dry nose bleeds
Wind pushes my backpack back towards a cliff
I feel a hand guide me back to the path
Exhausted, spirit crushed, I reach the top
With dark, hard rain, I meet the mountain's wrath
As I stand to share the desperate cries of man
Lightening, thunder, wind and hail frighten me

I take one deep breath look to the loud earth
De-wayne No-Run-ner. De-wayne No-Run-ner
I wail with all my might and all my love
And there above me, clouds open blue skies
Where I see eyes of De-wayne No-Run-ner
De-wayne No-Run-ner is his holy name
